Oh, the story was good but after all that reading and getting to the last page and finding that the "story continues" in another book, is just upsetting. I avoid cliffhanger stories like the plague, so wish I'd had warning about this one. It would have been 4 stars if it had an ending. I won't be buying the next book. JIRProduct details

I thought I would love this. I loved the premise, but it became tedious for me to read even with all the twists and revelations. The heroine annoyed me. The hero...I am not sure what his deal was or is. I guess book 2 is supposed to reveal that but I am going to pass.
Serena is an empath who is asked by her boss to meet Slade and find out if he is telling the truth about not being responsible for killing his business partner. Serena is ordered to live with Slade for one week. She is asked not to read anything about him since her manager wants her to come up with her own assumptions. However, Serena explains that it is hard since Slade's life is in every magazine and newspaper. However, Serena, makes assumptions before she even arrives.
I think Serena is meant to be a caring, kind heroine but she came off as a little spoiled brat. She gets two dogs and does not even ask her roommates if that is okay. She is a vegan and assumes that everyone is to cater to her eating habits. She says she is not judgmental because she feels other people feelings, but I think she was the most judgmental. And I love how she is supposed to be all ethical, but sleeps with her client (Slade) a day and half after meeting him.
This did not work for me, but it may work for you.
Serena just started working at a law firm in California. She still had to take the law exam for her license. She helped work on cases. Serena was able to read people's feelings so her boss sent her to Slade's to see if she could figure out if he was guilty of murdeing his business partner. This was a very high profile case so her boss wanted to know what defense strategy to use. Unfortunately, Serena and Slade were very attracted to each other, therefore she couldn't get a good read on him. She knew she had to figure out if he killed Jordan. He kept warning her not to investigate certain leads because they were part of a mob family. Serena would do anything to prove Slade's innocence and Slade would do anything to protect Serena. Will Serena be able to uncover the truth without getting hurt? Will it ruin her relationship with Slade? She didn't completely trust Slade so she had to do something. Will all of Slade's secrets come out? What will Selena do with what she finds out?
I received a ARC of Dangerous Temptations and in return, I just have to give an honest review.
Serena Roberts is a junior associate in a big law firm, she will be a attorney once she passes the California bar exam. Now the law firm was retained to represent Slade Bridgewell who is a billionaire and a suspect in the murder of his business partner. The firm wants Serena to do the initial interview with Slade. Only there's a catch , they want Serena to stay at the home of Slade Bridgewell for a week. But Serena has made up her mind, she doesn't like Slade who she thinks is arrogant and rich.
What started out as part of Serena's job for the law firm has ended up with Serena falling for Slade. Things starting to move too fast for Serena and it scares her. Serena doesn't know much about Slade and Serena has secrets of her own.
One minute you want Serena to ride off in the sunset with Slade. The next minute, you want Serena to get away as far as she can from Slade since you start to wonder if Slade murdered his business partner.
Annie Jacoby has written a romance story but she added intrigue, mystery and suspense. Together those combinations make a fantastic story that pretty much has you on the edge of your seat and has you trying to guess who murdered Slade's business partner. And you hope that Serena follows her heart. A awesome book, well written by Annie Jacoby !!

For the good points, loved the premise of the story, it moved along pretty fast however there was a good bit of world building. The hero and heroine have a lot of good chemistry, enough to overlook some errors that other reviewers have mentioned.
Now for the not so good, one of my pet peeves are when books are copied up into several small books that are frustrating at best and turn the reader off at worst. As much as I enjoyed this book I hesitate to buy book 2 as I would if that was the end of the story, but it isn't, there's a book 3 and who knows how many more. Sorry, yes, I want to know what happens but not at the cost of being strung along. If you however enjoy the suspense of waiting to find out the outcome of a story then this is a decent read.
Meh, tried to get into this book, the premise sounded interesting and fresh, the whole empath angle had promise, but fell flat. The heroine was just flat out annoying, dragging the whole "loves dogs" thing into the story at every turn was just weird, she loved dogs and got two puppies but never fed them or even mentioned feeding them but went on and on about them going potty everywhere. She was supposed to be this intelligent woman yet she jumped to conclusions and judged everyone before she even met them and then acted all holier than thou at every opportunity, yeah a Vegan is so much more important and such a better human being..yet she is condescending and elitist? Awful, couldn't read much of it..her empath skills were ridiculous at best the senior partners in the firm were 100% on board with them?, not a chance in hell. Don't bother, this was a waste of time and just an exercise in frustration.
